‘CLZ Continues to Be Climate Positive

In 2008, ‘CLZ became the first Carbon Neutral radio station in the U.S. In 2022, we took it a step further to become Climate Positive. And in 2023, we continued with that commitment– thanks to our equally committed partner, BRIBURN. BRIBURN has helped us to offset more than 100% of our emissions– taking us beyond carbon neutrality to where we are actively pushing back against climate change.

How do we determine Climate Positivity? We evaluated our total energy use including:

  • The cost of transmitting our signal
  • Office and studio lights
  • Office computers
  • Heating and cooling
  • Running our station vehicle
  • Producing promotional items like re-usable totes and water bottles
  • Daily commutes of all on-air staff as well as our sales and management staff who work at WCLZ and Portland Radio Group.
  • Cost of running our online stream

Through our sponsorship with BRIBURN and partnership Reverb, we’re supporting the Sky Wind India Project, which has been doing important work in India for just over 10 years now. Click here to learn more about this very cool project.
