The United States Department of Agriculture is going after the University of Maine in a compliance review for Title IX violations.

The USDA said that the review is in response to Maine’s “blatant disregard” for President Donald Trumps executive order that is intended to stop transgender women from competing in women’s sports.

Prior to this the Office for Civil Rights also launched a separate Title IX investigation into the Maine department of education and MSAD 51 on Friday.

CBS 13 reports that in a Statement from USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins, The University receives over $100 million from the department and will potentially lose future funding if it does not follow the executive order.

The University of Maine System’s spokesperson Samantha Warren noted that the agency has made no allegations of wrongdoing against the University of Maine itself.

“Maine’s public universities will continue to comply with all relevant State and Federal laws and cooperate with any compliance reviews to ensure postsecondary educational opportunities and high-impact research continue to benefit our students, the state and this nation,” Warren said in a statement.
