Mainers will have new options for flights to Houston.

United Airlines says it’s adding nonstop summer service from the Portland Jetport to Houston on Saturdays beginning in June.

The service will be provided on smaller narrow-body regional jets – the 76 seat Embraer E-175 aircraft.

The new service will operate on Saturdays starting June 28, 2025. Flights are available for sale now.

Houston Intercontinental Airport is a major hub for United flies with more than 450 flights daily. It will likely offer Mainers a more accessible way to connect to destinations out of Houton in the southern U.S.

“This is a big announcement for the Jetport,” said Portland Airport Director Paul Bradbury. “This coming summer United Airlines will connect the world to Portland with non-stop service to five of their hubs. This level of service is truly remarkable, and we are grateful for United’s continued investment in the Portland market.”

Recent new service from the Jetport includes Breeze Airways flights to Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, White Plains, New York, and Sarasota, Florida. Also, JetBlue is offering new flights to Orlando, while Frontier Airlines is flying from Portland to Cincinnati, Ohio

In addition, Avelo Airlines will start offering nonstop flights in May from the Portland to Tweed-New Haven Airport in Connecticut. One-way fares start at $39. New Haven is billed as a gateway from Portland to the metro New York City area and coastal Connecticut.
