Portland police announce two indictments in 2008 murder case

Portland Police say two people have been indicted in a murder case that’s gone unsolved for fifteen years.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Interim Assistant Police Chief Robert Martin announced new information in the murder of Frank Williams. He was 37 when he was beaten and stabbed on the Fox Street soccer field in August of 2008.

Earlier this month, a grand jury handed down indictments for 36-year-old Shane Hall and 30-year-old Khang Tran, who are charged with murder in the case. Both are already serving sentences for unrelated crimes.

Martin says this is the fourth unsolved homicide brought to a grand jury since August of 2020.

Martin says a $10,000 FBI reward is still being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of others involved in Williams’ death.

He’s also asking anyone who may have information about the department’s twelve remaining unresolved homicide cases to come forward.
