Two deadly fires in Harpswell, Old Orchard Beach under investigation

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating fatal fires in Harpswell and Old Orchard Beach over the weekend.

The first fire was reported around 12:40 a.m. Sunday on Sea Mist Lane in Harpswell, where one male was found dead inside.

The medical examiner is working to identify the victim.

Investigators were later called to a home at 9 Usen Lane in Old Orchard Beach around 9:30 a.m. Sunday to find 70-year-old John Chadbourne dead at the scene.

The cause of both fires is still under investigation.
