The State Fire Marshal is asking for public help after firefighters found a stolen car at the site of a wildfire in Ripley.
They say the case is being investigated as a vehicle theft connected to arson with the wildfire.
The Fire Marshal is asking people between the towns of Levant and Ripley to check doorbell cameras, security cameras, dashcams, or business surveillance from Monday afternoon for a specific 1970 Buick car.
They say the wildfire was deliberately started and burned the car in the process.
Firefighters were sent to the fire at about 6 pm on Monday.
They’re asking people to check video footage from Monday between 1:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. for a light yellow / cream 1970 Buick.

The Fire Marshall says the smallest details — partial plate, direction of travel, unusual passengers, or time spotted — may be critical in their investigation.
