Rescuer’s Say, ‘Good Samaritan’ Hit, Injured While Helping Driver

Image from Kennebunk Fire-Rescue

Kennebunk Fire-Rescue is calling a pedestrian a good Samaritan after he was injured when hit by a car while trying to help another driver who had crashed last night.

They say the pedestrian was helping the driver who’d crashed into a tree on Sea Road when an oncoming car hit the first car, which then hit the pedestrian.

Both the pedestrian and the driver of the first car were taken to hospitals.

It is unclear how severe their injuries are.

Kennebunk Fire-Rescue says the pedestrian-Good Samaritan told them the initial accident had knocked out the first vehicle’s lights, and he was worried another car was going to come along and hit the original vehicle.

The rescue service says, “Unfortunately within moments of rendering aid to the driver that is exactly what happened.”

The first driver was taken to a hospital in Biddeford and the pedestrian was taken to a hospital in Portland.
