Republican State Rep. Turns Self In on Domestic Assault Accusation

Republican State Representative Lucas Lanigan is in custody after turning himself in at the York County Jail this morning.

Sanford Police say Lanigan turned himself in at 9:30am after they announced over the weekend there was a warrant for his arrest on an accusation of Domestic Violence Aggravated Assault. Officers say an assault was reported to them on Friday.

An investigation is ongoing.

Lanigan was elected to the Maine House in 2022 and represents parts of Shapleight, Newfield, Sanford and Springvale.

He’s running for reelection against Democratic challenger Patricia Kidder in the 141st District.

The Maine House consists of 151 individuals, (79 Democrats, 67 Republicans, 2 Independents and currently 3 Vacancies).
