Maine Democratic Congresswoman Chellie Pingree has put the Trump administration on blast, saying her office has been flooded with calls from constituents concerned about cuts to federal programs.

In a press conference at the Portland Jetport on Tuesday, Rep. Pingree said “We are in the middle of a daily lawless amount of chaos and confusion from the Executive Branch.”

Pingree says constituents are worried about cuts to programs via executive order, and Elon Musk’s access to the Treasury department’s payment system.

She said she’ll try to keep constituents informed about the changes, and will “fight back for the people of Maine.”

Maine Independent U.S. Sen. Angus King also said in a statement Tuesday that attacks on USAID are “causing immediate harm to U.S. national security, placing U.S. citizens at risk, disrupting life-saving work and breaking the U.S. government’s contractual obligations to private sector partners.”

Maine Republican U.S. Sen. Susan Collins told the media earlier this week she is concerned about Musk and his associates going into federal agencies and demanding personal information on employees.

President Trump and Elon Musk have said the moves are aimed at reducing wasteful government spending.
