A 30-year-old South Portland man has serious injuries after police say he was shot in the leg by his stepbrother Tuesday afternoon.
Officers say they were called to the scene at 616 Westbrook Street at around 4 p.m., where they put the victim into a tourniquet, and South Portland Rescue transported the man to Maine Medical Center.
Police say the victim went through surgery and is expected to survive.
Meanwhile, officers say they pressed 41-year-old John Williams with three charges – Elevated Aggravated Assault class A, Reckless Conduct class C, and Assault class D.
Williams was taken to Cumberland County Jail for processing.
South Portland Police say the event was an isolated incident where the suspect and victim know each other, and there is no threat to the public. There is also an active investigation.
