A Lewiston man has been charged with arson in connection with a fire at the home where he had been living with his girlfriend.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire on Libby Avenue that was reported around 7:12 p.m. Monday.
Crews battled the flames from the roof and top floor and were quickly able to the extinguish the fire.
There were no injuries, but several pet birds died.
During the fire, police canvassed the area and searched nearby woods with a drone overhead, with some officers wielding long guns.
Police were at the same house on Sunday, where an arrest warrant had been issued for Treven Stoops, 38.
Stoops was arrested Tuesday afternoon at Androscoggin County Jail, where he was already being held on unrelated charges.
Police said Tuesday that reports of people in two vehicles shooting at each other on Sabattus Street on Monday are not accurate.
