Police: Footprints in Snow Led to Man Who Burglarized 20+ Cars

A 50-year-old man faces numerous charges after police say his footprints in the snow led them to more than 20 vehicles he burglarized in Brunswick in one night.

Officers say they got a call about an attempted car break-in on McKeen Street at 2:30 am Sunday. The caller said they were alerted by an app on their cell phone that someone tried to open the car door.

Police say they found tracks in the snow at that location, which led them to a number of cars where break-ins were attempted. and even to an attempted break-in at a garage.

They say the tracks eventually led the officers to Columbia Ave. where they found the suspect, 50-year-old Vladimir Zintchenko, hiding behind a tree.

According to police, Zintchenko burglarized over 20 vehicles throughout the night. Officers were able to recover some of the stolen property.

Zintchenko was arrested and charged with burglary, burglary of a motor vehicle, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer with priors, and violation of conditions of release.

He was taken to the Cumberland County Jail where he is being held without bail.
