Owner of Chinese restaurant in Lewiston being held in ICE custody

A Chinese food restaurant in Lewiston is now shut down, and its 46-year-old owner is in the Cumberland County jail in the custody of ICE.

Lewiston police say they were not notified about the arrest of Xing Feng Dong, and Mayor Carl Sheline says he’s surprised and trying to find out more information.

Lewiston city records show Dong operates the Canton Wok restaurant on Lisbon Street, which has been in business for almost 20 years.

Dong’s family member says they weren’t told why he was arrested, but that Dong was working with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to get his green card.

Dong is being held without bail.
