Once Child Dead, Other Critical in Albion Hit-And-Run

One child is dead, while another is in critical condition, and an adult woman has serious injuries from a hit-and-run crash in Albion.

State Police say the woman, 33-year-old Mollie Egold of Albion, and the surviving child were flown to a hospital while the other child was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers have arrested 44-year-old Benjamin Lancaster of Albion, stating that he was the driver who fled the scene.

Police say Lancaster was intoxicated at the time of the crash and faces numerous felony charges:

• Operating Under the Influence Causing Death

• Operating Under the Influence Causing Serious Bodily Injury (2 counts)

• Leaving the Scene of an Accident Causing Death

• Leaving the Scene of an Accident Causing Serious Bodily Injury (2 counts)

State police are looking for any video footage or surveillance that may cover Hussey Road or Main Street in Albion between 5:00 pm and 5:15 pm on Friday involving a white vehicle they say Lancaster was driving.
