A 56-year-old Oklahoma fugitive is in jail in Maine after being arrested in Maine for possessing and selling child sexual abuse material.

U.S. Marshals say an investigation by the Northern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force determined that Jaime A. Oktay had fled Oklahoma and was hiding in Maine.

They say the Marshals Service Maine Violent Offender Task Force located and arrested Oktay without incident at a residence in Waldoboro. He will be sent back to Oklahoma under legal procedures.

“Fleeing across state lines does not create an escape route, it creates a longer trail for us to follow,” said Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Josh Taylor for the District of Maine. “The United States Marshals Service will track you, we will find you, and we will return you to face the consequences of your actions. There is no safe haven.”

U.S. Marshals says their Maine Violent Offender Task Force includes members from the U.S. Marshals Service, Maine Department of Corrections, Biddeford Police Department, U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Maine National Guard Counterdrug Task Force, and the Coast Guard Investigative Service
