Oakland man charged with domestic violence after hours-long standoff


A suspect has been taken into custody after a standoff in Oakland Tuesday morning.

Police responded to a report from a woman around 6 a.m. in Palermo who said her ex-partner, 45-year-old Jason Grant of Oakland, was making threats.

Officers went to Ayer Street in Oakland to get Grant to come out of his home. After several hours of speaking with negotiators, he was taken into custody.

Grant faces several charges, including domestic violence and causing a standoff.

Pleasant Street or Route 137 was closed Tuesday morning but had reopened by 11 a.m.

Police said steps were taken to ensure nearby schools and residents were safe during the standoff.
