Navy Ship Christened at Bath Iron Works

Bath Iron Works

The Navy’s newest guided missile destroyer was christened over the weekend in Maine.

The ceremony took place at the Bath Iron Works shipyard.

Governor Janet Mills and Senator Angus King spoke at the ceremony, with about 1,500 people in attendance.

The ship is named after General Louis H. Wilson Jr., who was a Medal of Honor recipient and former commandant of the Marine Corps.
Several other military destroyers are currently under construction at Bath Iron Works.
“The shipbuilders of Bath Iron Works are committed to building Navy destroyers that will perform as needed when called upon by our nation’s Sailors,” said Charles F. Krugh, president of General Dynamics Bath Iron Works. “It is our duty to ensure they are best built so the men and women of our Armed Forces can fulfill their duty to protect our country and our families.”
