Motorcycle Possibly Linked to Large Kennebunkport Fire

Kennebunkport Fire - Maine Fire Marshall's Office

A motorcycle that was started moments earlier is being considered as the cause of a large fire in Kennebunkport.

The Maine Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire, which destroyed a garage and severely damaged a nearby home at 47 Maine Street, a property known as “The Tamaracks.”

Firefighters say several vehicles stored in or near the garage were also destroyed, and an adjacent home was heavily damaged, displacing the family who lived there.

The fire was reported Friday evening shortly after 7:30 pm. Fire crews from Kennebunkport were sent to the scene, with mutual aid provided by departments from Kennebunk, Wells, Arundel, and Biddeford Fire Departments.

No injuries were reported. Firefighters say an investigation is ongoing.   Kennebunk and Kennebunkport Fire Departments are assisting the Fire Marshal’s Office with the investigation.
