Investigators have confirmed the deaths of a Mount Desert woman and her two grandchildren whose vehicle was found submerged in the water last month were accidental.

Maine State Police said Tuesday that the cause of death for Sharon Bukulmez, 61 and her grandchildren, Sawyer Grubb, 3, and Kinsley Grubb, 5, was drowning.

Their vehicle was found in Pond Cove in Roque Bluffs on Sep. 20.

Investigators said it appeared Bukulmez had accidentally driven off a boat ramp and into the water after leaving a family gathering in Jonesboro the previous night.

Police said the deaths are still under investigation and more information will be released when appropriate.
