A charity that was started after the Lewiston mass shooting held a fundraiser on Saturday in Scarborough.

The “Maineiacs Cornhole Family Fund” held its second annual cornhole tournament on Saturday.

Organizers said the event is to raise money in support of the survivors of the shootings and the victims’ families.

Many of those who died were members of the deaf and hard of hearing community who played in cornhole leagues in lewiston.

CBS 13 reports that the president of the charity, John Maloney, said the games themselves were secondary.

“Today is more about gathering, hugs, cries, laughs, remembering, and celebrating; we want to celebrate that we have such a huge family like this in support,” Maloney said in a quote from our news partners at CBS 13.

He also said the charity continues to receive donations from all around the country.

About 180 players took part in the charity.
