Maine to receive millions in federal money to restore Camp Ellis

Maine Sen. Susan Collins says the state is getting $23 million in federal money to address erosion and storm damage at Camp Ellis in Saco.

A faulty jetty built by the Army Corps of Engineers decades ago has been funneling waves into Camp Ellis, accelerating erosion.

Sen. Collins says the money will be used to build a 750-foot spur angled off of the jetty.

The project also includes 300,000 cubic yards of beach fill to repair parts of the beach that have been lost to erosion.
