Maine State Police Looking for Tips on 1981 Homicide

Maine State Police are asking for public help to solve a 45-year-old homicide case.

Police say the body of 24-year-old Michael Cochran was discovered among the rubble of a burned-out cabin in February of 1981.

The cabin was located in the town of Dedham, and it burned down on February 24 of that year.

Cochran’s death was ruled a homicide, and the case remains unsolved.

Details about what led to his death have not been publicly released.

Maine State Police are urging anyone who may have information about Cochran’s death to contact them. Anyone can submit tips by calling (207) 973-3750 or by using the online tip form here.

There’s been some success in using newer technology to help solve crime cases that date back decades.
