Maine is going to trial for allowing transgender athletes to compete in girls’ sports.

The court date has been scheduled for December as the state met the deadline to respond to the Trump administration’s lawsuit on Thursday.

The justice department says that Maine is violating President Donald Trump’s interpretation of Title IX and wants a court to take action against the state.

CBS 13 reports that The Department of Education for the state says that it is following state and federal law and not the president’s executive order.

The order which seeks to stop transgender athletes from participating in girls’ and women’s sports.

In the state’s response, Maine denies every allegation that the presidents administration lawsuit alleges except for when Governor Janet Mills said to President Trump, “see you in court”.
