Heating oil prices hit another record high this week in Maine.
The Maine Department of Energy Resources says a gallon of heating oil hit $6.04 on Monday, an 83 percent increase from this time last year.
That breaks the previous record of $6.02 set in September.
The department says it now costs about $750 more to fill up a standard 275-gallon oil tank.
It comes as the Trump administration announced plans this week to release 300,000 barrels of oil from the Northeast oil reserve.
“With rising costs and cold weather on the way, I encourage Maine people to stay informed of current prices, review incentive options through Efficiency Maine, and to contact their Community Action Agency if they need immediate relief,” said DOER Acting Commissioner Celina Cunningham in a Thursday news release.
About half of Maine households use fuel oil as a primary heat source.
