A Democratic candidate running for Maine’s 2nd Congressional District says he will no longer accept support from Rep. Eric Swalwell.
Swalwell’s campaign for governor in California was suspended over the weekend amid allegations of sexual misconduct.
In response, Maine congressional candidate Jordan Wood said Monday he’s no longer acknowledging Swalwell’s endorsement and will donate his campaign contribution to a local food bank.
Wood is running in his party’s primary to unseat Democratic Rep. Jared Golden, who is not seeking re-election.
The winner in the Democratic primary will go up against former Gov. Paul LePage in the fall.
Wood initially launched a campaign for U.S. Senate to unseat Susan Collins, but pivoted to running for Golden’s U.S. House seat.
