Lewiston Police say they now have assault accusations against seven kids under age 18.

Officers say they learned of a video circulating on social media last week that depicted a violent attack of several underage kids assaulting one victim.

They say the assault was not reported to police at the time, and an investigation led to the arrest of five suspects initially before two more were taken into custody day later.

Police say all seven suspects face Aggravated Assault charges and were taken to the Long Creek juvenile detention center in South Portland.

Aggravated Assault is charged as a felony in many cases in Maine.

Lewiston Police are crediting the assistance of the District Attorney’s Office and the Juvenile Community Corrections Officers with their investigation, which is ongoing.
