A 26-year-old woman accused of shooting and killing another woman in Lewiston is being held without bail on a murder charge.
Elise Bergeron appeared in court on Monday after being accused of using a Glock semi-automatic handgun to shoot and kill 22-year-old Maliyah Powell on a city street early last Friday.
The shooting reportedly took place on Union Street in Lewiston after an argument among people led to a fight in the street, and Powell being shot.
Family and friends of both the victim and the suspect were in court Monday.
An Androscoggin County judge ordered Bergeron to be held without bail, with a court hearing scheduled for April 10th.
Bergeron could face 25 years to life in prison if convicted.
She’s also charged with one count of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Bergeron was convicted in 2025 after making false statements to an officer in federal court
