Lebanon Voters to Decide $7.5 Million Bond for Fire Station

The Lebanon Fire Department is asking voters to approve a bond for a new fire station.

CBS 13 News reports the $7.5 million bond to build a new fire station in Lebanon goes before voters on June 10.

Lebanon Fire Chief Joe Stefano says the current station has no running water, kitchen, decontamination room, bunks, offices, or training room.

In a submission to the city, Stefano said the station was built over 50 years ago to serve a much smaller population, and is now operating well beyond its intended capacity.

He said the building’s structural integrity has been compromised over the years, making it susceptible to damage from natural disasters.

CBS 13 News reports voters rejected a similar bond last year.

Chief Stefano has applied for $5 million in grants, which would downsize the cost burden on taxpayers.
