A civil engineer from Colombia was detained in Portland by ICE agents Thursday, who reportedly took him forcibly from his car.

The Maine Monitor reports that witnesses say the agents smashed the window of the car Juan Sebastian Carvajal-Munoz was driving, pulled him out, placed him in their vehicle, and drove off.

It’s not known where Carvajal-Munoz was taken, while his car was left running in the street before a passerby drove it into a parking lot.

The Maine Monitor reports Carvajal-Munoz has no criminal record, according to a TransUnion background check.

He was detained during the current U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement effort in Maine known as “Operation Catch of the Day.”

The agency says it is targeting illegal immigrants who have criminal records. An ICE press release state’s they’re “targeting the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens who have terrorized communities.”

It’s not known where Carvajal-Munoz was taken by immigration enforcement agents.

The Maine Monitor reports his co-workers say he’s worked at at GEI Consultants in Portland for two-and-a-half years, and is in Maine legally on a work visa.
