Hannaford grocery stores says its website and online services are up and running again after more than a week of technical difficulties

A cyberattack disrupted the Maine based chain’s online services and “To Go” ordering system. which was first reported on November 6th.

Hannaford ‘s parent company confirmed it had detected a “cybersecurity issue” two days later and took some systems offline to protect them.

The store announced its services were working once again Sunday.

Hannaford was founded in 1883 by Arthur Hannaford as a small produce store along the Portland, Maine, waterfront. In 1915, its location was 164–168 Commercial Street.

Delhaize America bought Hannaford in 2000, which did away with Hannaford’s emerging competition to Delhaize America’s Food Lion chain in the Southeast after Hannoford’s expansion there. The purchase also expanded Delhaize operations into the Northeast.

According to detailedpedia, Delhaize merged with Ahold in 2016 to create a new company, Ahold Delhaize. Ahold was the owner of the competing New England based “Stop & Shop” supermarkets, which become a sister company and brand to Hannaford as a result of the merger with Delhaize. Hannaford now sells Nature’s Promise private-label products which were originally only available at Stop & Shop.
