Deadly House Fire in Hiram Claims a Life

Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office

Investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s Office were called to the scene of a deadly house fire in Hiram.

Crews were called to a home on Bobbin Mill Road just before midnight Friday, where they found heavy flames coming from the basement and the second floor.

One man was found behind the building with serious burns; he was airlifted to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Tragically, firefighters discovered a woman’s body on the upper floor of the home.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary findings suggest the fire started in the basement and was likely caused by an electrical malfunction.

The investigation is ongoing.
