Officials at the Piscataquis County Jail say they met Friday’s deadline to correct health and safety concerns.
The Maine Department of Corrections ordered the jail to stop taking in new inmates after an inspection found several violations.
On Friday, Sheriff Bob Young said staff developed an action plan that was approved by the commissioner of the Department of Corrections, and the jail was back to accepting inmates.
Issues raised during the inspection included the tracking of sharp objects brought into the jail, nursing oversight, and maintaining medical records.
