A candidate with a criminal history record will appear on the ballot for the Bar Harbor town council in June.

55-year-old Keith Goodrich was indicted in 2015 on a felony charge of theft and a misdemeanor charge of unemployment fraud for collecting over $18,000 in unemployment insurance for four years.

According to the Bangor Daily News, Goodrich allegedly filed weekly claims for unemployment benefits despite being employed at the time.

Goodrich pleaded guilty December 2015 to a misdemeanor charge of theft in exchange for the dismissal of the felony theft charge and the unemployment fraud charge.

Goodrich served 30 days in jail and repaid the money he stole to the Maine Department of Labor.

There are 11 candidates running in the Town Council election and three, Goodrich included, are running for a two-year term that would fill in for the remainder of former Councilor Jeff Dobbs term. Dobs resigned in March due to health reasons after holding his position for just under a year.

Bar Harbor residents can vote in the Town Council election on June 13.
