A Cornish man accused of making threatening comments directed at the University of New England in Biddeford faces charges including terrorizing.

The Maine Fire Marshal’s Office says 24-year-old Blake Tibbetts of Cornish made the comments at a local restaurant on Monday before he was detained and evaluated at a hospital before being taken to jail.

Investigators later uncovered bomb-making materials at Tibbetts’ residence on Old Limington Road.

Tibbetts is charged with terrorizing, criminal use of explosives and criminal attempt to cause a catastrophe and is being held on $500,000 bail.

Police say there’s no active threat to the UNE community.
