Auburn Police are looking for two people after shots were fired on James Street Friday night.

Officers say that at around 6:30 pm, two people wearing hooded sweatshirts reportedly went into a building and “caused a disturbance” before a man chased them down the street.

One of the people being chased reportedly shot a gun twice, with one of the shots hitting the tire of a parked car and another hitting a nearby building.

One of the suspects is reportedly thought to be a 16-year-old boy, and the other is unknown.

Police say no one was injured.

Officers say they don’t know the motive of the altercation, but note evidence suggests the people involved were known to one another.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Dennis Matthews at Dmatthews@auburnmaine.gov or call (207) 333-6650 x2073.
