A 20-year-old woman enjoying Long Sands Beach in York, Saturday afternoon, was almost a drowning victim.

York EMS, say they responded to a report of a possible drowning near the Stones Throw Hotel and Restaurant around 3:45 p.m.

By that point, a bystander had already jumped into action and performed CPR on the woman, saving her life.

Neither the bystander nor the woman’s name have been released by authorities.

The Portland Press Herald reports that more swimmers are being saved from rip currents than years prior, due to storms in early 2024 reshaping the surf zone.
