Two MaineDOT workers were killed in a crash in a construction zone on I-95 in Waterville Tuesday morning.

Maine State Police say a minivan driven by 34-year-old Samantha Tupper ran through a temporary stop sign around 9:40 a.m. on the on-ramp near mile marker 127 and was struck by a tractor-trailer.

The van then crashed into three MaineDOT workers, killing 60-year-old James Brown and 51-year-old Dwayne Campbell, both from Waterville.

The two were thrown over the bridge and pronounced dead at the scene, while the third was hospitalized with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

Two children who were in Tupper’s vehicle were also not hurt.

The road was shut down for several hours into Tuesday afternoon.

The crash is still under investigation.
