14-Year-Old Boy Hospitalized in Lewiston Shooting

Lewiston Police are investigating a Thursday afternoon shooting that injured a 14-year-old boy.

Officers say they were sent to the area of 4 Avon Street on reports of screaming and multiple gunshots, and found the boy with a gunshot wound to his leg.

They say he was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in stable condition.

Police say they’ve detained several teens and recovered three firearms so far after witnesses told them several teenagers were seen running away from the scene.

The shooting took place at about 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Lewiston Police say an investigation remains active, and additional information is expected to be released
