A fire that destroyed a Belfast mobile home over the weekend left one person and two dogs dead.

The fire broke out at a home on Searsport Road around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

The victim’s body was taken to the medical examiner to determine a manner and cause of death.

The Maine Fire Marshal’s Office says the fire is still under investigation but believe it may have started near the laundry area in the back of the home.

It was the second fire in Belfast that day, with another fire injuring one person and leaving seven displaced at an apartment building on Bluebird Circle.

One person was injured in that fire while breaking windows on the first floor.

Investigators say the fire was caused by the improper disposal of smoking materials.
