Texans Coach Kubiak hospitalized after halftime collapse

(Reuters) – Houston Texans coach Gary Kubiak has been hospitalized after he collapsed at halftime during the National Football League home game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, the team said.

“He is conscious and his family is with him,” the Texans said in a statement.

There was no word on what caused the 52-year-old Kubiak to collapse as he was leaving the field. The team told local reporters he did not have a heart attack.

Kubiak was taken from the field on a stretcher and rushed to a Houston hospital.

He is the second NFL head coach to be hospitalized this weekend.

Denver Broncos coach John Fox was taken to a hospital in the Charlotte North Carolina on Saturday after feeling light-headed while playing golf.

After testing and further observation, it was determined Fox should undergo surgery for an aortic heart valve replacement early next week.

“He will take a leave of absence from coaching for at least the next several weeks,” the Broncos said in a statement.
