Neil Young, Jack White to record ‘Tonight’ performance

Neil Young and Jack White will make history when they appear on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Monday night by recording the song they play live and pressing it to vinyl for release on Tuesday.

Young will appear for his first interview on the show before the performance, and host Fallon has revealed fans of the two stars will be able to pick up a copy of the music they play hours later.

Announcing the news on Monday, Fallon tweeted, “Making history tonight – Neil Young is going to perform and press a vinyl with the help of Jack White live on the show. One take. Fun.”

White, who worked with Young on his latest blues covers album, pulled off a similar feat during Record Store Day last month, when he recording and pressed a seven-inch version of his new song Lazaretto at his Third Man Records studio in Nashville, Tennessee.

From performance to release, the entire process took just less than four hours.
