Why radio?
My dad was a disc jockey back when he was in high school and the stories he would tell really made me curious if it was as fun as he made it sound. I joined my college radio station almost as soon as I got to campus and spent most of the next four years in the WUMF office/studio.  I get to be around great music all the time!  I can’t imagine doing anything else.

What would people be most surprised to learn about you?
That I’ve taken over 8 years of dance.  It’s a surprise because I’m the type of person who trips walking down a straight, wide, empty hallway.  It’s not for the lack of excellent teachers over the years; I’m just not a very graceful person.

What was your first concert?
I went to go see Van Halen during their Balance tour in 1995 with my mom and brother.   Halen remains a guilty pleasure to this day and I don’t care who knows.

Music people would be surprised you love?
Besides Van Halen?  I’m a big fan of Pennywise. I didn’t really get hip to them until their Straight Ahead album, but I’ve made up for some lost time.  And I love Social Distortion; I could listen to Mike Ness recite a grocery list.

What is the worst job you have ever had?
I’ve been pretty lucky and had some decent jobs.  I loved working in a restaurant but going home with lobster shells and other junk up to my elbows after busing tables for 13 hours isn’t my idea of a good time.

TV shows you can’t miss?
I rarely ever get to see them the first time around (since I’m here), but when I get the chance I like to watch The Office, How I Met Your Mother (Jason Segel is hilarious), and Big Bang Theory (rock, paper, scizzors, lizard, spock anyone?).  Oh, and sometimes - more often than I’d like to admit - I get sucked into those VH1 hour long specials about nothing.  I love those.

What is your favorite thing about/place in Maine?
My favorite thing about Maine is that feeling you get when you’re crossing the bridge from New Hampshire to come back into Maine.  There’s too much to like about Maine & it always feels great coming back to it all.

Most embarrassing moment?

I was helping do sound & lights for a Bob Marley show back in college.  Bob didn’t like the lights shining on him or something so he started playing with the lights.  I jumped up on stage to fix them for him – those lights are expensive and our station didn’t have much of a budget.  So he continues on with the jokes as I fix the lights.  I reach up and take a step to fix one of the lights, and stepped down a few inches past the end of the stage.  Now I didn’t fall completely off the stage, but I did do one of those tottering-windmill-like-flailing-arms moves that are oh-so attractive.  This was in front of the sold out gymnasium filled with classmates, professors, and community members.   Oh, and a comedian.

What is the last book you read?
I’m currently reading “Out Stealing Horses” by Per Peterson.  The last book I read was a guilty pleasure, and I think I’ve revealed enough of those for one sitting already.
