Locavore Tour

WCLZ invites you to the 5th Annual Backyard Locavore Day (a locavore is someone who eats food grown or produced locally)

Provided by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension

Saturday, August 10th from 10am-4pm

There will be more than a dozen backyard locations in Cumberland County.

The tours will show successful backyard do-it-yourself strategies to grow, raise, harvest and preserve food. Learn about:

  • Vegetable gardening
  • Square foot gardening
  • Bee-keeping
  • Drying, canning and freezing foods
  • Composting
  • Raising chickens for eggs and meat

 Tickets are $15 in advance/$20 day of.
